Email/Stop the Bullfight in Monique,Portugal

League Against Cruel Sports

Take action – Help us to stop this Saturday's bullfight in Monchique, Portugal

Bullfight,_Portugal_240.jpgA bullfight is taking place this Saturday 23rd July in the picturesque Portuguese town of Monchique. We want to highlight the strength of opposition to it, and also alert local authorties that the decision to stage a bullfight could irreparably damage the town's international reputation.
Monchique is a small mountain town in the Algarve of a few thousand people, and has no tradition of bullfighting. The first ever bullfight in Monchique took place last summer, to the disgust of the majority of local residents. In the aftermath of the bullfight (which, incidentally, made a loss of around 10,000 euros) the authorties promised never to stage another bullfight.
However, residents realised that this promise had been broken when last week posters began to appear advertising a bullfight in the town.
Please take just thirty seconds to email Rui Andre, the Mayor of Monchique, and tell him that the cruel sport of bullfighting has no place in a modern, civilised society.
Please fill in your details below, which will take you to a page where you can view the template letter. Your details will appear at the bottom of the email you send. Then all you have to do is hit submit!
